Lazin salaš - Novi Sad

Na šta vas asocira poseta Novom Sadu? Mene na salaš. Na mir. Na neki malo sporiji tempo od onog na koji smo mi Beograđani silom prilika naviknuti. Od pregršt salaša koji vam nudi Novi Sad i okolina Gastro policija se odlučila da poseti naravno jedan od najzvučnijih imena - Lazin salaš.

Primetila sam da se u Novom Sadu naročito kada je centar u pitanju sve zove po Lazi Telečkom. Kafane, kafići, pa tako i Lazin salaš. Smešten je u ulici Laze Telečkog (gle čuda) i nema šanse da ga ne primetite. Odmah se oseti duh Vojvodine, a nijedan detalj poput drvenih stolica, kockastih stolnjaka, drvenih detalja i svega uostalom što čini jedan salaš ne nedostaje. Veliko dvorište prati stil unutrašnjeg dela, i jednostavno čaroban je osećaj da se odjednom iz centra grada nađete na jednom salašu.

Već na samom početku prilikom rezervisanja restorana naišla sam na ljubaznost osoblja i znala sam da će ovo biti jedno divno iskustvo. Preljubazni konobar odmah nas je smestio za naš sto u bašti, a mi smo se brže bolje bacile na meni. Lazin salaš je pravi vojvođanski restoran, pa tako osim roštilja ovde možete da uživate i u specijalitetima kao što su Lazino pismo, Kolenica u kajmaku, Jagnjetini ispod sača i mnogim drugim vojvođanskim specijalitetima. Mi smo se odlučile za nešto lakši obrok ovog puta, a to je srpska klasika - Ćevapčići na kajmaku i Šopska salata.

Svaka od nas odlučila se za po pola porcije Ćevapčića na kajmaku (380 RSD) i bile smo i više nego site. Meso je bilo preukusno, servirano uz pravi domaći krompir, luk i kajmak koji je bio savršen. Cene su generalno niže u odnosu na iste porcije po beogradskim restoranima, ali to je i bilo za očekivati. Uz ćevapčiće odlično se uklopila Šopska salata (220 RSD), a naročito mi se svidela PRELJUTA paprika koja je bila u salati, jer sam veliki fan ljutih jela. 

Nakon večere, već je bilo negde oko 21h, kada je počela muzika uživo, odnosno ozvučeni tamburaši. Moram priznati da me je muzika malo manje oduševila od hrane i ambijenta kojima sam bila preoduševljena. Jednostavno očekivala sam da na salašu uživam u zvucima pesama Zvonka Bogdana, Garavog sokaka i ostalih novosadskih hitova, a umesto toga salaš se pretvorio u klasičnu srpsku turbo folk kafanu. E sad vrlo je moguće da imaju tematske večeri pa da smo se mi tu jednostavno našle pogrešnog dana, ali ni to me nije sprečilo da uživam uz vince i prijatelje. 

Što se gostiju tiče, apsolutno svi tipovi i svi uzrasti su bili na salašu. Od fine gospode i sredovečnih, pristojnih dama, do mladih devojaka obučenih kao da su krenule u noćni klub, što mi se takođe nije dopalo. Mislim da je salaš mesto gde ipak treba da se poštuje neka pristojnost i da ne bi bilo na odmet da se povede malo računa o dres kodu "dama" koje ovde dolaze.

Moje generalno mišljenje je da bi Lazin salaš ipak bilo bolje posetiti preko dana, jer ćete tada steći pravi osećaj spokoja i mira, koji i treba da ponudi jedan salaš. Ali pak ukoliko volite gužvu i narodnjake, što nije slučaj sa mnom, onda vam je moja topla preporuka za noćni izlazak u Novom Sadu - Lazin salaš.

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of visiting Novi Sad? For me, it’s messuage. And peacefulness. And a slightly slower pace than the one we Belgraders are used to. From a bunch of messuages that Novi Sad offeres, Gastro Police decided to visit one of the most famous, of course - Lazin Salas.

I noticed that in Novi Sad everything is named after Laza Telecki, especially in the center. Taverns, bars, as well as Lazin Salas(messuage). It's located in Laze Teleckog Street (look at that) and there's no way you can miss it. You can immediately feel the spirit of Vojvodina, and no detail is missing: wooden chairs, checkered tablecloths, wooden details and everything else that belongs to one messuage. Big garden follows the style of the inner part, and it’s simply magical that from the city center, you’ll suddenly find yourself at a small messuage.

At the very beginning, while booking this restaurant, I met the kindness of the staff and I knew this would be a wonderful experience. The polite waiter immediately escorted us to our table in the garden, and we quickly started studying the menu. Lazin Salas is a true Vojvodina restaurant, so besides dishes from the grill, you can also enjoy the specialties such as Laza fried letter, Pork knuckle with kaymak, Lamb under the bell and many other specialties from Vojvodina. We decided to have a slightly lighter meal this time, which is the Serbian classic – Cevapcici( kebabs) with kaymak and Shopska salad.

Each of us decided to order a small portion of Cevapcici(kebabs) with kaymak (380 RSD) and it was more than enough. The meat was delicious, served with homemade potatoes, spring onion and kaymak which was perfect. Prices are generally lower than in Belgrade restaurants, but that we expected that. With kebabs, Shopska salad (220 RSD) was a perfect fit, and I especially liked the HOT chilli pepper that was in the salad, because I’m a big fan of hot dishes.

After dinner, it was already around 21h, when live music started, actually tamburitza players. I have to admit that the music didn’t fscinate me like the food and the ambience. I just expected to enjoy the sounds of the songs of Zvonko Bogdan, Garavi sokak and other hits of Novi Sad, but instead, the messuage turned into a classic Serbian turbo-folk kafana(tavern). Now, it's possible that they have thematic evenings, so we just happened to come to the wrong one, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying my wine and the company of my friends.

As for the guests, absolutely all types and all ages were there. From fine gentlemen and middle-aged people, modest ladies, to young girls dressed as if they were going to a nightclub, which I didn’t like. I think that the messuage is a place where there is still some need in maintaining some decency and that it wouldn’t be a waste to take a little care about the dress code of the "ladies" that come here.

My general opinion is that it would be better to visit Lazin Salas in the daytime, because then you’ll feel the true peace and quiet, which should be felt at a messuage. But if you love crowds and turbo-folk, which isn’t my case, then my warm recommendation for a night out in Novi Sad - Lazin Salas.

So i biber

Posle napornog radnog dana, pogotovo kad je leto, najviše što mogu da poželim je da sednem u neki hlad i jedem ukusnu hranu. Ne mogu da vam opišem svoje oduševljenje kad me je drugarica pozvala i rekla da će doći po mene da idemo negde na ručak.

Ovog puta odlučile smo da posetimo čuveni restoran So i biber. Toliko sam slušala o ovom restoranu, a pošto je drugarica tamo već bila, otišla sam da proverim da li će nam utisci biti isti.

Restoran So i biber ušuškan je na Starom sajmištu i kad mu prilazite prvo što će vam zapasti za oko je prijatan hlad, koji leti savršeno dođe. Zaista izgleda kao mesto gde vam odlično dođe da posle radnog vremena odmorite sa vama dragim osobama.

Bez obzira što je napolju bilo veoma prijatno za sedenje, ipak smo odlučile da jedemo unutra, jer na 40 stepeni meni je rad klime zaista neophodan. Elem, kad smo ušle unutra prvo što mi je zapalo za oko je gvozdena ograda oko stepenica i na spratu, kao i veliki kristalni luster. Uz pod u vidu šahovske table, mogu reći da je ovo jedan zanimljiv spoj.

Ovo je restoran nacionalne kuhinje, pa ćete tako moći da osetite blagodeti svih nacionalnih specijaliteta, bilo da ste za dobro predjelo, kuvano ili glavno jelo, ima ovde hrane i za one najizbirljivije. Ko manje voli meso može da izabere neki od ribljih specijaliteta, a za ljubitelje testa tu su, naravno, nezaobilazne paste i pizze. Ono što bih posebno pohvalila je to što su specijaliteti od mesa izdvojeni po vrstama mesa, a takođe i pohvala za to što postoji i dečiji meni. Tu za svako jelo piše gramaža, pa verujem da to dosta olakšava roditeljima u izboru jela za njihove mališane.  

So i biber je poznat po tome da se tu služe velike porcije, što mi je i drugarica potvrdila, tako da smo u startu znale da ćemo podeliti jedno jelo. Prvo smo se odlučile za Domaću (teleću) čorbu (140 rsd) i već po tome se videlo da su porcije velike, jer tu je bilo čorbe za komotno tri osobe. Bila je veoma ukusna, a mesa je u njoj bilo toliko da je i drugarici i meni malo ostalo na dnu tanjira.

Posle čorbe, drugarica je predložila da uzmemo nešto od glavnih jela i odlučile smo se za Mediteranske trougliće (850 rsd). Reč je o svinjskom fileu punjenim kačkavaljem, šunkom i paprikom. Porcija je zaista velika, pet komada rolovanog, ukusnog mesa, sa odličnim spojem i proporcijom navedenih priloga, što je potvrdilo dobar glas ovog restorana. Pečeni krompir i pirinač su dali jelu dodatni šmek, kao i Šopska salata (160 rsd), koju smo uz to naručile.

Stvar koja mi je bila čudna je to da imaju coca-colu na točenje. Zaista je to neobično za jedan beogradski restoran koji je veoma poznat, ne sećam se da sam to skoro videla ni u nekom fast food-u... Kako nismo želele da uzmemo na točenje, odlučile smo se za coca-colu zero (160 rsd). Ona je bila u limenci.

Malo bih se osvrnula na uslugu. Konobari nisu neljubazni, ali su, recimo, neobični. Kad smo sele, konobar nas je pitao šta ćemo da pijemo i mi smo rekle da nam za početak donese bokal vode, ali da ćemo naručiti nešto i za piće i za jelo, samo da malo razmislimo. Veoma brzo je doneo bokal mlake vode, po izuzetno toplom danu. Mislim da malo leda ne bi nikom škodilo na plus 40. Nakon što smo rekle da nam donese dve coca-cole zero, konobar je doneo dve limenke, bez čaša, a u čašama nam je bila sipana voda. To mu nije bio znak da donese još dve čaše već je sve vreme stajao pored nas dok se nismo odlučile šta ćemo da jedemo. Kad dođem u restoran, očekujem malo privatnosti, a i vremena da razmislim šta mi se jede u tom trenutku. Ono što moram da pohvalim je to da smo sve vrlo brzo dobile, čekanje je bilo minimalno.

Ljudi koji ovde dolaze su iz svih branši, tog dana kad smo mi bile mislim da je najviše bilo poslovnih ljudi, mada ni mlađi nisu izostajali.

So i biber je nesumnjivo mesto na koje treba otići, jer su porcije velike i ukusne, a cene sasvim pristojne, tako da za odnos cena - kvalitet od nas imaju najviše ocene.

After a hard work day, especially during summer, the thing I desire the most is to sit under some shade and eat delicious food. I can’t describe my enthusiasm when my friend called me and said she would pick me up to go somewhere for lunch.

This time we decided to visit the famous So i biber restaurant. I heared so much about this restaurant, and since my friend was there already, I went to check if our impressions would be the same.

The So i biber restaurant is tucked away in Staro sajmiste and the first thing you see when you approach it is a pleasant shade, perfect for a hot summer day. It really looks like a good place to visit after work, to rest a bit with your friends or family.

Regardless of the fact that it was very pleasant to sit outside, we decided to eat inside, because at 40 °C, I really need AC. When we got inside, the first thing that caught my eye was the iron fence around the stairs and on the floor, as well as a large crystal chandelier. And the floor decorated like the chessboard, I can only say that this is an interesting match.

This is a national cuisine restaurant, so you can feel the advantages of all the national specialties, whether you crave a good appetizer, homemade or main dish, here you can find something for everyone. Those who aren’t big fans of meat may choose one of the fish specialties, and for those who love dishes made out of dough, of course, here you can find the unavoidable pastas and pizzas. What I especially liked is that the meat specialties are categorized by the types of meat, and also I praise them for having the children's menu. There you can see how many grams every dish weighs, so I believe that that makes it a lot easier for parents in choosing meals for their little ones.

So i biber is known for serving large portions, which was confirmed by my friend, so we knew from the beginning that we would share one dish. We started with their  Homemade (veal) soup (140 rsd) and after seeing this dish it was obvious that the portions are large, because three people could share this soup, easily. It was very delicious, and there was so much meat in it, that in the end, in both mine and my friend’s plate, there was some meat left at the bottom of the plates.

After the soup, friend suggested that we try one of the main dishes so we ordered Mediterranean triangles (850 rsd). It's a pork fillet stuffed with cheese, ham and bell pepper. The portion is really large, five pieces of rolled delicious meat, an excellent blend of the listed ingredients, which only confirmed the good voice that follows this restaurant. The baked potatoes and rice gave an additional flavor, as well as Shopska salad (160 rsd), which we ordered with our food.

The thing that was strange to me was that they serve Coca-cola from soda tap. That’s really unusual for a Belgrade restaurant, which is very famous, I don’t remember seeing that recently, even in some fast food bars... Since we didn’t want something tapped, we had decided to order Coca- cola Zero (160 rsd ). That comes in a can.

I would like to write a few words regarding the staff. The waiters are not unkind, but they are, to say, unusual. When we sat, the waiter asked us what we were going to drink and we said to him to bring us one pitcher of water, for start, and that we’ll order something to drink and eat, but we just needed some time to think. He quickly brought a pitcher of lukewarm water, on an exceptionally warm day. I think some ice wouldn’t harm anyone at 40+°C . After we ordered two Coca-colas zero, the waiter brought two cans but without two additional glasses, and the glasses we already had we used for the water. That wasn’t a clear sign to him to bring two more glasses, instead he was standing next to us the whole time until we decided what to order. When I visit the restaurant, I expect some privacy, and some time to think about what I shall order. What I have to praise is that we got everything very quickly, the waiting time was minimal.

The people who come here are from all branches, on the day that we visited, there were mostly business people, but the younger ones were there, too.

So i biber is undoubtedly the place to go, because the portions are big and tasty, and the prices are quite decent, so we give them the highest rating for the price-quality ratio.

Suvenir

Leto već uveliko traje, a ja sam se zapitala gde bih mogla da odem na neki ručak i pobegnem od osećaja gradske vreve makar na par sati kada mi već poslovne obaveze još uvek ne dozvoljavaju da odem na odmor. Po visokim temperaturama uvek mi prvo reka padne na um, te sam rešila da sa drugaricom prošetam po Savskom keju (koji baš dugo nisam obilazila). Nakon kraće šetnje primetila sam splav koji mi se u trenutku učinio kao pravo mesto za ručak. I nisam se pokajala! Dobrodošli na splav Suvenir!

Plavo bele nijanse koje su me odmah podsetile na Grčku i more bile su presudne da se u momentu odlučim da posetim ovaj splav. Kada sam ušla na splav oduševljenje je bilo još veće. Stolnjaci sa plavo belim kockicama, brodski ukrasi po zidovima od belog drveta poput kormila, drvene stolice koje su takođe pratile nijanse ostalog dela kako enterijera tako i eksterijera bile su pun pogodak. Jednostavno ulaskom na ovaj splav imala sam utisak kao da sam na nekoj morskoj obali. Večiti romantik kao što sam ja odmah je pao na čari Suvenira. Da nije samo unutrašnji deo restorana u ovom stilu dokaz je i terasa splava koja je prepuna cveća, sa udobnim stolicama, i divnim pogledom na Savu. Omamljujuće, jednom rečju!

S obzirom da smo došle na ručak u ranopopodnevnim satima, rezervacija nije bila potrebna, što je bilo olakšavajuće. Međutim ukoliko se pak odlučite da uveče posetite Suvenir, moj savet vam je ipak da se latite telefona. Nakon što smo zauzele poziciju, bacile smo se na proučavanje menija. Generalni utisak je da je ovo restoran srpske kuhinje, što mi se odmah dopalo. Roštilj, salate, glavna jela koja su u meniju razdeljena po vrsti mesa dodatno su me oduševila. Volim kad je meni urađen sistematski, da ne moram pola sata da istražujem gde se koje jelo nalazi. Tako da nije nam puno trebalo da se odlučimo. 

Prva na redu našla se Teleća čorbica (190 RSD) - i da, da, znam da je vruće ali ja prosto ne mogu da sednem u restoran sa nacionalnom kuhinjom, a da je ne naručim. I bila je odlična! I prepuna teletine, bogato, što bi se reklo kod nas!

Za glavno jelo odlučile smo se za srpske specijalitete - Pljeskavicu i Gurmanske uštipke. Pljeskavica (610 RSD) je bila ogromna, servirana sa pečenim krompirom i lukom, i bila je pravi srpski san.

Gurmanski uštipci (610 RSD) kada su mi bili servirani, prva misao mi je bila - E ovde ću da dovedem dečka, pa ako mi i za ovu porciju kaže da mu je mala onda mu nešto fali. Šalu na stranu, porcija je zaista bila ogromna, i da sam znala naručila bih pola porcije ili bih svoju podelila sa drugaricom. Bila sam vođena restoranima po centru grada gde za 1000 dinara dobijete dva zalogaja, te je ovo zaista bilo prijatno iznenađenje za mene. Osim što je bila ogromna porcija, bila je i preukusna, i sve sam pojela, ali jedva! Ovo je bilo jedno od onih jela koje vam je prosto žao da ne pojedete. Svaka čast za kuvara!

Pored glavnog jela naručile smo i Bašta salatu za dve osobe (280 RSD) i opet je usledio šok kada nam ju je konobar doneo. Pola Kalenić pijace (ne preterujem) je bilo na tanjiru. I ja sam opet bila prijatno oduševljena, što količinom što svežinom povrća.

Kada je reč o usluzi, konobar je bio izuzetno prijatan i raspoložen za saradnju. Malo smo ga duže čekale da nam donese meni, ali nema veze. Isplatio se svaki minut čekanja. Ljudi koji dolaze pretežno su bili porodični tipovi, ali bilo je i mlađih ljudi poput nas. Svakako sve pristojan svet, što bi rekla moja baka. 

I za kraj prosto ne znam šta bih vam više rekla, a što već nisam. Suvenir je po meni pravo mesto ukoliko želite da odvedete porodicu ili prijatelje iz inostranstva na ručak koji ima pristojne cene, preukusan je, a pri tom ne morate da se plašite da će neko otići kući praznog stomaka. Jer to je ovde prosto nemoguće!

It’s summer for a while now, and I wondered where I could go for lunch and run away from the city noise, at least for a couple of hours since because of my work I still can’t go on a vacation. When it’s hot outside, the first thing that comes to my mind is the river, and I decided to take a walk with my friend on the Sava quay (which I haven’t visited for a long time). After a short walk, I noticed a restaurant raft that seemed like the right place for lunch. And I wasn’t wrong! Welcome to the Suvenir restaurant raft!

The blue white shades that immediately reminded me of Greece and the sea were enough for me to decide to visit this raft. When I entered the raft, the enthusiasm was even greater. Blue and white checkered tablecloths, white wood walls with boat decorative objects like helms, wooden chairs in the same shades like the interior and the exterior, were the right choice. Simply by entering this raft, I had the impression that I was on a seashore. A hopeless romantic, like myself, immediately fell to the charms of the Suvenir. The interior part of the restaurant isn’t the only part in this style, there is also the terrace full of flowers, with comfortable chairs, and a beautiful view of the Sava river. Breathtaking!

Since we came for lunch in the early afternoon, the reservation wasn’t needed, which helped a lot. However, if you decide to visit Suvenir in the evening, my advice is to grab your phone and make a reservation. After we took our position, we started to study the menu. The general impression is that this is the restaurant of Serbian cuisine, which I immediately liked. Grill dishes, salads, I especially liked that the main dishes are divided by the type of the meat. I love it when the menu is done systematically, so I don’t have to spend half an hour exploring where certain dish is. So it didn’t take us long to decide.


We started with the Veal soup (190 RSD) - and, yes, I know it's a hot day, but I just can’t sit in a restaurant with national cuisine without ordering one. And it was great! And full of veal, as we say in Serbia -rich!

For the main course we decided for Serbian specialties – Pljeskavica(Burger) and Gourmet meat fritters. Burger (610 RSD) was huge, served with roasted potatoes and onions, and it was a real Serbian dream.

Gourmet meat fritters (610 RSD) when they served them, my first thought was - I'll bring my boyfriend here, and if he says that the portions here are small, he’s not normal. A joke aside, the portion was really huge, and if I knew that, I would order half a portion or I’d share with my friend. I guided myself by the restaurants in the city center, where for 1000 rsd you get two bites, and this was a really pleasant surprise for me. Except that it was a huge portion, It was delicious, too, and I ate the whole thing, but barely! This was one of those dishes that you just feel sorry for not eating it whole. All the praise to the chef!

In addition to the main dish, we ordered the Garden salad for two (280 RSD) and again it took us by surprise when we the waiter served it. Half of Kalenic's farmers market (I do not exaggerate) was on the plate. And again, I was pleasantly surprised both with quantity and freshness of the vegetables.

When it comes to the service, the waiter was extremely nice and easy to speak to. We waited a little longer for him to bring us the menu, but it doesn’t matter. Every minute of waiting paid off. The people who come here are mostly family types, but there were also younger people like us.  Polite world, as my grandmother would say.

All in all, I simply don’t know what I would say more that hasn’t been said already. In my opinion, The Suvenir is the right place if you want to take your family or friends from abroad to lunch for a decent price, with delicious food, and plus, you don’t have to worry whether someone will go home with an empty stomach. Because that just isn’t possible in this place!
