Realist

Beograd je zahvatila još jedna groznica. Otvaranje pabova na svakom koraku, ali bukvalno svakom. Ali ne može se pabom nazvati svaki lokal koji ima 3-4 vrste točenih piva i kikiriki. Pravi pab (bar da bih ga ja tako nazvala) mora da ima dušu, uigranu ekipu, jaaako dobar izbor točenog piva i odličan izbor hrane koji bi mogao da zadovolji nepca i zasiti glad pivopijama. Jedan od pabova koji se u poslednje vreme definitivno može izdvojiti kao odličan kandidat je - Realist! A nakon mog posta, prosudite i sami, ukoliko već niste imali prilike da posetite ovo mesto. Pa, da krenemo redom!

Pab Realist nalazi se u Dalmatinskoj ulici, ulici u kojoj se ja mislim nalazi najveći broj pabova. I osim u ovoj ulici, i u okolnim ulicama možete da naiđete na veliki broj pabova, tako da bi se moglo reći da je ovaj kraj jedan veliki raj za pivopije. Enterijer ovog paba je zaista fascinantan. Fin, elegantan, pabski stil, baš ono što volim. Nisam pristalica onih sorti pabova u kojima od oblaka dima i poluraspadnutnih drvenih stolica i točenog Jelena nemaju šta drugo da ponude - a do skoro to se nazivalo pab. Realist ima baš ono što volim da vidim u pabu. Što se tiče bašte, s obzirom na lokaciju ok je. Mada moram da priznam da je unutrašnjost lokala ipak na mnogo zavidnijem nivou od letnje bašte.

Ali da se manemo mi sa prostora i bacimo na izbor piva i hrane. Kada je pivska karta u pitanju izbor je sjajan! Mislim da ovde i najprobrljiviji pivopija (kao što sam i ja) može naći ono što voli (a ja sam našla svoju najveću ljubav među pivima - Grimbergen). Dosta vrsta flaširanih piva u kombinaciji sa velikim izborom točenih piva po sasvim pristupačnim cenama je kamen temeljac dobrog paba. Što se tiče hrane, u meniju se nalaze baš ona jela koja mogu da isprate i zasite ogroman apetit koji se otvori nakon unete poveće količine vitamina B. Mi smo probali skoro sve sa menija, i prezadovoljni smo načinom pripreme i ukusom.

Izdvojila bih osnovni obrok svakog paba - Juneći burger (550 rsd) - serviran sa začinjenim krompirom, koji je preukusan zbog karamelizovanog luka i slaninice, i definitivno nema šanse da vas ne zasiti!

Ukoliko niste baš mnogo gladni tu je Grilovani miročki sir (350 rsd) koji je serviran na listićima rukole sa dve vrste umaka. Za ljubitelje sira, uz čašu vina ovo može biti sjajan izbor.

Kolutići luka (250 rsd) su definitivno zamenili čuvenu pabsku grickalicu kikiriki. Servirani su sa sosom koji se idealno slaže uz luk. A osim kolutića luka, jedno vreme su u ponudi imali i kolutiće paprike, i ovom prilikom apelujem da ih ponovo vrate na meni, jer su fenomenalne grickalice koliko i kolutići luka.

Za prave gurmane tu su Krilca u slatko ljutom sosu. Imate mogućnost naručivanja male porcije od 500 gr (400 rsd) i velike porcije od 1 kg (750 rsd).

Ljubitelji kobasica biće posebno uzbuđeni jer u Realistu ima veliki izbor ovog jela. Pa tako ovde možete da probate Dimljenu kobasicu (390 rsd), Konjsku kobasicu (410 rsd), Pileću kobasicu (390 rsd), Kobasicu mangulice (430 rsd) i Kobasicu sa sirom (410 rsd). Sve kobasice servirane su sa začinjenim krompirom, a ranije su uz krompire servirali i mini salatu sa kupusom i šargarepom, ali iz nekog razloga su je izbacili sa menija, pa bih apelovala da i nju vrate - Pravda za mini vitaminsku salatu!! Jer bila je sjajna i dobro se uklapala u celu priču.

Za kraj sam ostavila jedno realtivno novo jelo kada je pabski meni u pitanju, a to je Cepkana svinjetina, poznatija i kao Pulled pork (430 rsd). Cepkana svinjetina u kombinaciji sa kupusom i karamelizovanim lukom, meni je jedno od omiljenih obroka ovde. Kao i ostala jela, servirana je sa začinjenim krompirom. Ovo jelo definitivno treba da probate ukoliko se nađete u ovom pabu. U kombinaciji sa pivom pun pogodak je definitivno! A porcija je ogromna, tako da ne brinite, nećete ostati gladni!

A kada je osoblje u pitanju, jedan od glavnih razloga zbog kojih je pab uvek prepun je poznati beogradski konobar Neša (meni poznatiji po nadimku Ćora) koji će vas u pabu dočekati i ugostiti kao da ste došli kod njega kući. Nadaleko je poznat po svom šarmu i sjajnom odnosu sa gostima. Pored njega tu je i lepša polovina osoblja Realista, Nina, šankerka, uvek nasmejana, bez koje Neša ne bi mogao da funkcioniše.

Što se tiče gostiju, Realist je mesto gde uglavnom dolazi ista ekipa, a i ukoliko naiđe neka nova ekipa, ubrzo i ona postaje standardna postava ovog paba. Jer zaista ko jednom ovde svrati na pivo, male su šanse da se neće ponovo vratiti. Uglavnom je prosek godina između 30 i 40 godina, retko ćete ovde naići na dečurliju. Vikendom u ovom pabu budu organizovane svirke, ili DJ veče, što samo dodatno upotpunjuje celokupni doživljaj.

Od večitog Optimiste, život i iskustva su me vremenom naučili da je ipak bolje biti Realista (ko razume shvatiće). A vi? Da li je vama čaša uvek polupuna ili poluprazna? Kakav god da je odgovor, svratite u Realist da je dopunite!

Belgrade has caught another fever. Pubs are opening at every step, I mean literally, every step. But you just can’t call it a pub if certain place serves 3-4 types of draught beer and peanuts. A real pub (at least for me to call it) must have a soul, well-coordinated staff, a large draught beer selection and an excellent choice of food that could satisfy the palate and the appetite of beer lovers. One of the pubs that definitely stands out as an excellent candidate is - Realist! And after this post, judge yourself, if you haven’t already had a chance to visit this place. Well, let's start!

The pub Realist is located in Dalmatinska Street, the street where, in my opinion, the largest number of pubs is located. And except in this street, you can come across a large number of pubs in the surrounding streets, so you could say that this area of the city is like heaven for beer lovers. The interior of this pub is really fascinating. Nice, elegant, pub like style, just what I like. I ’m not a fan of those types of pubs which have nothing to offer besides clouds of smoke, half broken wooden chairs and draught Jelen beer- and until recently these kinds of places were considered a pub. The Realist has exactly what I like to see in the pub. As for the garden, considering the location, it’s a fine one. Although, I have to admit that the interior of the pub is still much better than their summer garden.

But let's move from the interior to their selection of beer and food. The choice of beer is great! I think that even the pickiest beer lover (like me) can find something for them (and I found my biggest love among beers - Grimbergen). A large number of bottled beers combined with a large selection of draught beers at quite affordable prices is the cornerstone of a good pub. As far as the food is concerned, in the menu you can find just the right dishes that can satisfy a huge appetite that is whetted when a high intake of vitamin B is present. We have tried almost everything from the menu, and we are pleased both with the way of preparation and taste.

I would like to single out the basic dish of every pub - Beef burger (550 rsd) - served with seasoned potatoes, and which is delicious because of caramelized onions and bacon, and there is definitely no chance that you’ll be hungry after eating one!

If you’re not very hungry, there is a Grilled Miročki cheese (350 rsd) served on some rocket salad with two types of dips. For cheese lovers, along with a glass of wine, this could be a great choice.

Onion rings (250 rsd) have definitely replaced the famous pub snack -peanuts. They are served with a dip that perfectly complies with the onions. And besides the onion rings, they also offered pepper rings for some time, and I take this chance to kindly ask them to include them in their menu again, because they are a phenomenal snack, just as the onion rings.

For real foodies there are Chicken wings in sweet chili sauce. You can order a small portion- 500 gr (400 rsd) and a large one- 1 kg (750 rsd).

Sausage lovers will be especially excited because Realist has a great selection of those. So here you can try Smoked sausage (390 rsd), Horse meat sausage (410 rsd), Chicken sausage (390 rsd), Mangalica sausage (430 rsd) and Cheese sausage (410 rsd). All sausages are served with seasoned potatoes, and some time before, along with the potato they served a mini salad with cabbage and carrots, but for some reason they don’t serve it anymore, so I would ask to also bring it back - Justice for mini vitamin salad !! Because it was really great and it was a perfect fit for the whole concept.

And finally, the dish I left for the end is a relatively new dish among the pub food, and that's Pulled pork (430 rsd). Pulled pork, combined with cabbage and caramelized onions, is one of my favorite dishes of this pub. Like the other dishes, it is served with seasoned potatoes. You should definitely try this dish if you visit this pub. Pulled pork and beer- definitely a perfect match! And the portion is huge, so don’t worry; you won’t end up hungry!

And when it comes to the staff, one of the main reasons why this pub is always full is the famous Belgrade waiter Neša (but to me, better known by the nickname of Ćora) who will welcome you as if you came to his house. He is by far known for his charm and a great relationship with guests. Besides him, a better half  of the staff of Realist pub is Nina, the bartendress, always with a smile on her face, and without her Neša wouldn’t be able to function.

As for the guests, Realist is the place with regular visitors, and even if someone new comes in, they soon become a part of this pub. Because, who once visits  this pub to have a beer, there are small chances that they won’t visit again. The average age of the guests is between 30 and 40 years old, you will rarely come across someone younger. During weekend they organize gigs, or DJ evenings, which only completes the overall experience.

From the eternal Optimist, life and experience have taught me over time that it’s better to be a Realist. And you? Is your glass always half-full or half-empty? Whatever the answer, come to Realist to fill it up!

Naša priča - Užice

Srbija je poznata kao država sa odličnom kuhinjom i gostoprimljivim ugostiteljima. Naravno, određeni krajevi su poznatiji po izvesnim specijalitetima, drugi manje. Kad pričamo o dobroj kuhinji, Užice je grad koji veoma može da se pohvali svojim restoranima.

Kad smo drugarica i ja stigle ovde, prvo što smo uradile, potražile smo gde možemo lepo da ručamo. Naša priča je imala visoke ocene i pozitivne komentare gostiju, pa je Gastro policija rešila da se ovo mesto nađe u njenim recenzijama.

Ovo mesto, modernog enterijera, koji predstavlja kombinaciju cigle i drveta, može slobodno da parira svakom boljem beogradskom restoranu. Elegancija i komfor su dve reči koje bih izabrala da ga opišem.

Naša priča - enterijer

Bogata ponuda jelovnika nas je bacila na muke, jer smo nakon putovanja bile gladne, a kad imate odličan izbor teško je odlučiti se. Dominira nacionalna kuhinja, sa ponekim internacionalnim jelima. Za početak smo odlučile da naručimo Zakusku, u čiji sastav ulaze: pršuta, šunka, masline, jaja, sir, duvan čvarci, kajmak, ajvar... Pravo srpsko predjelo, koje nam je prvo otvorilo apetit, a zatim i zasitilo, a celo to zadovoljstvo za dve osobe košta 600 rsd. Odnos cene i kvaliteta i više nego zadovoljavajući. Ako mene pitate, "nosilac" ovih zakuski je uvek pršuta, koje je bila fenomenalna, a kako drugačije, kad je u pitanju Užice.

Postojanje fraze "gladne oči", još jednom je potvrđeno ovde. Bez obzira što nam je zakuska pristojno utolila glad, odlučile smo da uzmemo i glavno jelo. Drugarica se odlučila za Pileći file u sosu od badema (650 rsd), a ja za Rižoto sa piletinom, povrćem i soja sosom (420 rsd). Jela su bila lepa za gledanje, a još lepša za nepca. Pileći file se odlično uklopio u sočni sos od badema, serviran uz začinjeni krompir, zelenu salatu i čeri paradajz. Što se mog jela tiče, ako ste ljubitelj kineske hrane imate sve preporuke, šmek soja sosa me nikad ne ostavi ravnodušnom. Uz ove specijalitete smo uzele i jednu Bašta salatu (320 rsd).

Cene su približne kao u beogradskim restoranima, čak i za nijansu niže.

Tog dana, kasno popodne, bilo je gostiju svih generacija, a verujem da su uveče puni, jer je ovo mesto koje osvaja i stilom i ponudom. Drago mi je što je Užice zadovoljilo standarde Gastro policije, a svim Užičanima i onima koji se tu zateknu savetujem da navrate ovde.

Serbia is known as a country of excellent cuisine and great hospitality of its caterers. Of course, some areas are more famous for certain specialties, others not as much. And speaking of good cuisine, Uzice is a city that has some priseworthy restaurants.

When my friend and I arrived here, the first thing we did was to look for a place where we could have a good lunch. Naša priča had high ratings and positive guest comments, so Gastro police decided to fit this place in one of its reviews.

This place of modern interior, which is a combination of brick and wood, can freely parry to any better Belgrade restaurant. Elegance and comfort are the two words that I would use to describe it.

The rich menu led us into trouble, because we were hungry after the trip, and when you have an excellent choice in front of you, it's hard to decide. National cuisine dominates the menu, as well as some some international dishes. For a start, we decided to order Zakuska- Hors d'oeuvre, which includes: prosciutto, ham, olives, eggs, white cheese, smoked pork rinds, kaymak, Serbian ajvar ... The real Serbian appetizer, which first whet our appetite, and then surfeited it, and all that satisfaction for two people costs 600 rsd. Price and quality ratio is more than satisfactory. If you ask me, the most important"member" of these appetizers is always prosciutto, which was phenomenal, but that is normal when it comes to Uzice.

The existence of the phrase " have eyes bigger than one's stomach" has been confirmed once again here. Regardless of the fact that our stomachs were already full after Zakuska, we decided to have the main course as well. My friend chose Chicken fillet in almond sauce (650 rsd), and I ordered Risotto with chicken, vegetables and soya sauce (420 rsd). The dishes were visualy nice, and even better for the palates. The chicken fillet was a perfect fit to the juicy almond sauce, served with seasoned potatoes, lettuce and cherry tomatoes. As far as for my dish, if you are a fan of Chineese food, be sure to try. In addition to these specialties, we also had one Garden Salad (320 rsd).

The prices are similar to the prices in Belgrade restaurants, even a bit lower.

That late afternoon, there were guests of all ages, and I believe that they are also full in the evening, because this is a place that conquers both with style and offer. I am glad that Uzice has complied with the standards of the Gastro Police, and no matter if you’re from Uzice or just visiting, I advise you to visit this restaurant.

Salaš 034

Salaši su, definitivno, prva asocijacija na Vojvodinu. Međutim, da li ste znali da ne morate da mrdnete iz Beograda, a možete da uživate u svim čarima koje nudi jedan tradicionalni vojvođanski salaš? Iskreno nisam ni ja znala, da se ne lažemo. Zato kada sam bila pozvana na ručak u restoran koji će mi se - po rečima mog prijatelja - sigurno svideti i da ću biti preoduševljena, bila sam izuzetno skeptična. Ali ko reskira, taj profitira. I ja sam se zaputila sa njim, bez imalo predznanja o restoranu u koji idem (a to mi se možda desilo samo par puta), u Zemun, u restoran Salaš 034.

U srcu Zemuna, na Gardošu, ušuškan u Sinđelićevoj ulici, nalazi se restoran Salaš 034. Ceo restoran smešten je u kući iz 1939. godine, što mu daje dodatnu čar i mističnost. Ceo enterijer je u vojvođanskom stilu, da ne kažem salaškom. Od menija, preko detalja po zidovima i policama, do drvenih stolova i stolica, apsolutno sve je u skladu sa imenom restorana. U restoranu se nalazi više prostorija, te možete ukoliko dolazite u većem društu da se potpuno izolujete od ostatka gostiju. Mi smo se smestili u centralnu prostoriju u kojoj me je posebno oduševio kamin u kom je pucketalo drvo pod plamenom. Prava ona idilična praznična atmosfera. No, da ne pomislite da je ovaj restoran samo pogodan za zimske dane, moram da napomenem da se iz centralne prostorije izlazi pravo na veliku terasu, sa koje imate pogled na Dunav, koji doseže čak do starog grada. Tako da verujem da je u proleće ručak ovde podjednako čaroban kao i u ovo doba godine.

Kao što je i restoran malen i ušuškan, takav je i jelovnik. Ali to što ne obiluje velikim izborom jela, ne znači da oskudeva u bilo čemu. Ovde nećete naići na klasična srpska jela, kao što su ćevapi, pljeskavice i ostalo, već na mali broj, ali odabranih tradicionalnih vojvođanskih specijaliteta, čiji se duh najviše uočava kada su topla predjela u pitanju, te smo se mi odlučili da probamo Restovane knedle - vojvođanske knedle sa dinstanim lukom, alevom paprikom i mileramom (380 RSD). Ovo je predjelo koje me je oduševilo! Sočno, odlično začinjeno, sveže pripremljeno (ne podgrejano!!), ma jednom rečju - preukusno! Imate sve preporuke od mene da probate ovo jelo ukoliko se odlučite da posetite ovaj restoran.

Ono što mi je zapalo za oko kada su glavna jela u pitanju je dobar izbor kuvanih jela, pa ovde možete da naručite kotlić dana, ali možete da uživate i u velikom izboru divljači koji nudi ovaj restoran, kao i u raznim sosevima koje možete da kombinujete sa vrstom mesa za koju se odlučite. Vojvođanski duh ne oseća se samo zbog izbora jela u jelovniku, već i zbog izbora reči upotrebljenih u meniju, pa tako u ovom jelovniku nećete naići na izraz prasetina, već na izraz gica, što je posebno simpatično. Nakon moram priznati podužeg razmišljanja odlučili smo se za Salašku gicu sa suvim šljivama - svinjski file punjen sirom i rolovan u slanini sa sosom od suvih šljiva i crnog vina (870 RSD) i Domaće dimljene kobasice (680 RSD). Gica je bila servirana uz grilovano povrće, meso je bilo sočno, jedino što se sir nije nalazio urolan u meso, već se nalazio na površini filea, ali to nije nimalo umanjilo bogatstvo ukusa. Kobasice su bile ukusne, začinjene i blago ljutkastog ukusa, servirane sa restovanim krompirom, i zaista su bile domaće radinosti (pošto u većini restorana home made znači Idea, Maxi itd.). Što se tiče porcija, zaista su obilne, tako da ne morate da brinete da li ćete se najesti u ovom restoranu.

Kada je izbor pića u pitanju ukoliko ste ljubitelj vina kao i mi, ovde ćete uživati. Pored naravno velikog izbora vina na flašu, tu je i ponuda vina na čašu iz fruškogorske vinarije Gajić koje je odlično, a cena sasvim korektna (260 RSD). Naravno tu je i standardna karta pića, koju nije potrebno dodatno opisivati.

Konobari su kao i sve u restoranu bili sjajni, prijatni i nenametljivi. Tu su bili za svako pitanje u vezi jelovnika koje smo imali, a pomogli su nam i svojim sugestijama da se lakše opredelimo. Posebno je bilo sjajno, kada smo izlazili iz restorana, na samim vratima čekao nas je konobar sa velikom tacnom domaćih vanilica uz reči - da se zasladimo pred put. Originalno, zaista!!

Ovaj restoran je za one koji vole vojvođanski stil, za one koji vole da provedu miran ručak sa svojim najdražima, i za one koje pokreće ljubav. U ovom restoranu jednostavno ne može da uživa svako, već samo oni koji u duši nose isto ono što i ovaj restoran nosi u sebi - ljubav, mir i tradiciju.

The farms/granges are definitely the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about Vojvodina. However, did you know that you don’t have to leave Belgrade in order to enjoy all the charms that a traditional Vojvodina grange offers? Honestly, I didn’t have a clue. I was extremely skeptical when I a friend of mine invited me to lunch in a restaurant that, according to him, I would certainly like and that I will be amazed by it. But who dares, wins. So I went with him, without any knowledge of the restaurant I'm going to (and this may have happened only a few times), in Zemun, to the restaurant Salaš 034.

In the heart of Zemun, in Gardoš, tucked away in Sinđelićeva street, there is a  restaurant Salaš 034. The entire restaurant is located in the house from 1939, which makes it even more charming and mystical. The entire interior is in Vojvodina style, typical for a grange. Everything from the menu, through the details on the walls and shelves, to the wooden tables and chairs, every single thing compliance with the restaurant's name. There are more rooms in the restaurant, so if you come in a bigger company, you can completely isolate yourself from the rest of the guests. We were placed in a central room where I was especially impressed by the fireplace in which the wood was flaring under the flames. An idyllic holiday atmosphere. However, not to make you think that this restaurant is just suitable for winter days, I have to point out that from the central room there’s an exit to a large terrace, from which you have a view of the Danube, which reaches even to the Old town. So I believe that a lunch here during spring is just as magical as this time of the year.

The menu is just as the restaurant, small and tucked away. But the fact that the choise of dishes is not large, doesn’t mean that it lacks in anything. Here you won’t come across some classic Serbian dishes, such as kebabs, burgers and others, but to a small number of selected traditional Vojvodina specialties, whose spirit is most noticed when the hot appetizers are concerned, so we decided to try the Roasted dumplings - Vojvodina dumplings with sauteed onion, aleppo pepper and sour cream (380 RSD). This is an appetizer that amazed me! Juicy, perfectly seasoned, freshly prepared (not heated !!), in a word - delicious! You have all the recommendations from me to try this dish if you decide to visit this restaurant.

As for the min dishes, the thing that caught my eye is a good selection of cooked dishes, so here you can order a daily pot dish, but you can also enjoy a great selection of wild game dishes offered by this restaurant, as well as various sauces that you can combine with the kind of meat you decide on. The Vojvodina spirit is not only found in the dishes in the menu, but also in the choice of words used in that same menu, so you won’t encounter the word ˝pig˝ but the word ˝piggy˝, which is especially sweet. After, I have to admit, some longer thinking,we decided to order Salaš (piggy) steak with prunes - pork fillet stuffed with cheese and rolled in bacon with prunes sauce and red wine (870 RSD) and Homemade smoked sausages (680 RSD). The piggy was served with grilled vegetables, the meat was juicy, the cheese wasn’t in the meat, instead it was on the top of the fillet, but it didn’t diminish the richness of taste at all. The sausages were delicious,well seasoned and a bit spicy, served with roasted potatoes, and they really were home-made (since in most of the restaurants, the term ˝home made˝ means something  from Idea, Maxi and other supermarkets.). As for the portions, they are really large, so you don’t have to worry whether you’ll be full after having lunch in this restaurant.

As for the choise of drinks, if you are a wine lover, like us, you will love it here. In addition to the large selection of bottled wine, there is also the offer of wine by the glass from the Gajić winery from Fruška Gora, which is excellent and the price is quite appropriate (260 RSD). Of course, there is also a standard drink list, there’s no need to describe it further.

The waiters, like everything else in the restaurant, were brilliant, polite and unobtrusive. They were there for every question about the menu that we had, and they helped us with their suggestions to easily decide what to order. This was especially nice: when we were leaving the restaurant, a waiter waited for us at the door with a large serving tray full of homemade Vanilice cookies(small vanilla cookies) and he told us- have something sweet before hitting the road. Indeed, very original!!

This restaurant is for those who like the style of Vojvodina, for those who like to spend a peaceful lunch with their loved ones, and for those who are motivated by  love. Not everyone can enjoy in this restaurant, but only those who in their souls carry the same things as this restaurant carries within itself - love, peace and tradition.
