Piano Loco

Pre neki dan sam pozvala drugaricu posle posla i rekla joj da je vodim na ručak. Jedini uslov koji sam navela je da hoću da me odvede na odlične lazanje. Odmah je rekla da idemo u Piano Loco.

Piano Loco je picerija na Voždovcu, deo grada u koji ne idem često, tako da nije bilo prilike da ovde ranije svratim. Odmah su me osvojili ambijentom koji odiše ne samo domaćinskom, već i nekom prijatnom, opuštenom atmosferom. Drvene stolice, različitog tipa, među kojima ima i onih kakve ima moja baka, ne može da u meni ne izazove osećaj porodične topline, gde se po pravilu dobro jede. Klavir, veliki šank od cigle, gomila detalja koji takođe vraćaju u detinjstvo i osećaj da ste kod bake su već odličan preduslov da odavde ponesem dobre utiske. Na raspolaganju vam je i bašta, u kojoj ću sedeti prvom prilikom, kad vremenske prilike dozvole.

Meni je italijanski, pa kome je do ovih specijaliteta, biće veoma zadovoljan izborom. Mi smo za početak, kao zakusku, uzele Bruskete Primavera (RSD 300), a kao glavno jelo Lazanje Della Casa (RSD 650) i Salatu Ala Bistecca (RSD 950). Kad sam probala bruskete, koji se sastoje od paradajza, mocarele, sosa od belog luka i, moje omiljene, rukole, na odlično pečenom, hrskavom hlebu, probudila su mi se sva čula i otvorio apetit za dalje uživanje. Što se tiče lazanja, drugarica je bila u pravu, ovo su zaista najbolje koje sam do sad jela u Beogradu! Ukusno, mekano testo, koje se bukvalno topi u ustima, sa šunkom, gorgonzolom, paradajzom i bešamel sosom, servirano u vatrostalnoj posudi, od mene dobija najviše ocene. Salata nije mogla da omane, posle ovako dobrih utisaka prethodnih jela. Biftek salata je uvek odličan izbor, po mom mišljenju, jer pored toga što će vas zasititi, to je uvek dobar spoj mesa i povrća. Paradajz, paprika, rukola, miks zelenih salata, kapar, masline, susam, dresing i biftek su kombinacija koja se retko kome neće svideti.

Cene su prosečne, sasvim opravdavaju ono što dobijete, što kvalitetom, što kvantitetom. Ovo je mesto koje se svima sviđa, i porodičnim ljudima i nama koji posle posla hoćemo da uživamo u slobodnom vremenu, i mlađima i starijima. Posebna pohvala za i više nego prijatno osoblje. 

Kad sledeći put budete poželeli da jedete odlične lazanje, Piano Loco je tu, nigde ne ide, a ako biste ipak italijansku kuhinju u kućnoj varijanti, imaju i opciju dostave.

The other day after work, I called my friend and said that I’m taking her to lunch. The only thing I asked for was for her to take me someplace with great lasagna. She immediately said we’re going to Piano Loco.

Piano Loco is a pizzeria in Vozdovac, a part of the city I don’t visit often, so that’s why I didn’t stop by sooner. I immediately liked the ambiance, full of not only homey but also pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Mismatched wooden chairs, and among them the ones that my grandmother has, they make me feel like I’m at home with my family and of course, good food. A piano, a big brick bar, a bunch of details that also bring me back to childhood and make me feel like I’m at grandma’s, just those things are good enough for me to leave this place with good impressions. There is also a garden, and I will visit it on the first occasion, when the weather conditions allow it.

The menu is Italian, everyone who likes these specialties will be very pleased with the choice. For starters, we chose Bruschetta Primavera (RSD 300), and for the main dish Lasagna Della Casa (RSD 650) and Insalati Ala Bistecca (RSD 950). The moment I tried the bruschetta, which consisted of tomatoes, mozzarella, garlic sauce and, my favorite, rocket salad, on top of the perfectly-baked crispy bread, it only whetted my appetite for further enjoyment. As for lasagna, my friend was right, really the best I've ever tried in Belgrade! A delicious, soft pasta dough, it literally melted in my mouth, made with ham, Gorgonzola, tomato and bechamel sauce, served in a casserole, this dish gets the highest mark from me. After such good impressions of the previous dishes, the salad couldn’t be any different. In my opinion, Steak salad is always an excellent choice, because in addition to filling your tummy, the combination of meat and vegetables is always a good choice. The combination of tomato, bell pepper, rocket salad, mixed green salad, capers, olives, sesame seeds, salad dressing and beefsteak is something almost everyone likes.

The prices are average, completely justified for what you get, both in quality and in quantity. This is a kind of place that everyone likes, families, old and young people, and us, people who want to enjoy our free time after work. All praise for more than polite staff.

The next time you want to eat great lasagna, think of Piano Loco, they won’t go anywhere, and if you prefer to eat something Italian at home, they also do deliveries.

Lloyd - Temišvar

Za vikend mi se nešto nije ostajalo u Beogradu, te sam rešila da posetim jedan grad u komšiluku i isprobam njihove specijalitete. Jedan poziv mom dragom bio je dovoljan, da se kroz par sati nađemo u gradu Temišvaru.

Temišvar me je oduševio svojom arhitekturom, te ga ne zovu bez razloga Mali Beč. Od tri najveća trga u ovom gradu, mi smo se odlučili za ručak na Trgu Pobede, u restoranu Lloyd.

Restoran Lloyd je jedan od najpoznatijih restorana u Temišvaru, i vrlo često je meta naših turista, verovatno iz razloga što ovaj restoran drži Srbin. Ceo restoran podseća me na stare beogradske kafane, i najviše bih mogla da ga uporedim sa  čuvenim restoranom Proleće. 

Osim što imaju meni na rumunskom i engleskom, tu je i meni na srpskom jeziku. Ovde možete da pojedete veliki izbor kuvanih jela, jela sa roštilja, razne specijalitete u kojima se vidi uticaj okolnih država na rumunsku kuhinju, a pod tim prvenstveno mislim na Mađarsku i Srbiju. U skladu sa tim ja sam se odlučila za Paprikaš sa palentom (RON 35), a moj dragi za srpski klasik - Karađorđevu šniclu (RON 29).

Paprikaš sa palentom bih opisala kao rumunsku verziju mađarskog gulaša. Meso je bilo fantastično spremljeno i začinjeno, i bilo je servirano sa palentom i jajima na oko, što mi je na prvu loptu izgledalo kao neobičan spoj, međutim ubrzo sam promenila mišljenje. Karađorđeva šnicla bila je servirana uz Pomfrit (RON 7) koji se dodatno plaća što je malo bez poente, jer niko u restoranu neće naručiti klot Karađorđevu šniclu. Za salatu uzeli smo Pečene paprike (RON 9) jer je to jedna od mojih omiljenih salata. Porcije su zaista ogromne, i nećete ostati gladni, a što se tiče usluge zaista su i više nego ljubazni i uslužni.

This weekend, I didn't feel like staying in Belgrade, so I decided to visit a city in the neighborhood and try their specialties. One call to my significant other was enough, and a couple of hours later, we arrived in the city of Timisoara.

Timisoara impressed me with its architecture, I get why people call it Little Vienna. Out of the three biggest city squares , we decided to have lunch at Victory Square, in Lloyd Restaurant.

Lloyd Restaurant is one of the most famous restaurants in Timisoara, it is often a target place of tourists from our country, probably because the owner of this restaurant is a Serb. The whole restaurant reminds me of old Belgrade taverns, and I could compare it with our famous restaurant of Proleće.

The menu comes in Romanian, English and Serbian. Here you can try a wide selection of cooked dishes, grilled dishes, various specialties in which you see the influence of neighboring countries on Romanian cuisine, especially between Hungary and Serbia. Accordingly, I ordered Stew with polenta (RON 35), and my significant other chose the Serbian classic - Karadjordje's steak (RON 29).

I would describe the Stew with polenta as the Romanian version of Hungarian goulash. The meat was beautifully cooked and spicy, served with polenta and sunny-side up eggs, which looked like an unusual mix to me at first, but I changed my mind soon . The Karadjordje's steak was served with Fries (RON 7), which isn't included in the price of the dish, you pay for it separately, that's a bit ridiculous, since nobody would order a plain Karadjordje's steak in a restaurant. We ordered some Roasted peppers (RON 9) because those are one of my favorite salads. Portions are really huge, you won't leave hungry, and as for the service, they are more than friendly and helpful.

I highly recommend this restaurant, so if you find yourself in Timisoara, be sure to visit Lloyd  and have a good meal!

Intergalactic diner

Ovaj put vas vodimo na jedno skroz originalno mesto, jedini pravi diner u Beogradu - Intergalactic diner!

Svi smo gledali američke filmove u kojima sednete za sto za kojim se nalazi jukebox, ubacite novčić i uživate u omiljenim pesmama, dok listate meni posećenog mesta, koji se uglavnom sastoji od burgera. Intergalactic diner je baš to - doza Amerike u Beogradu.

Nalaze se na dve lokacije u gradu, na Vračaru, u ulici Internacionalnih brigada i na granici Zemuna i Novog Beograda, u okviru hotela Jugoslavija. Oba lokala rade 24h i za sebe kažu da kod njih možete da pojedete najbolje burgere u univerzumu. Vrlo smela reklama, a mi smo odlučile da kao gastro patrola ispitamo istinitost ove tvrdnje. 

Kad zakoračite ovde, imaćete osećaj kao da ste zakoračili u američki film iz '50-ih godina: crno bele pločice na podu, redovi crveno belih kauča između kojih je već pomenuti sto sa jukebox-om, uz nezaobilazni veliki šank i pogled na kuhinju. Na stolu se nalazi i meni i salvete u crvenom stalku, takođe jedan od detalja koji smo viđali na televiziji.

Pošto im u nazivu stoji da posluju na nivou galaksija, nazivi jela su svemirski. Tako od burgera možete da pojedete npr. Big Bang, kolutiće luka Saturn rings, salatu Star chick, ili kosmičke palačinke.

Meni se sastoji od burgera (pilećih i junećih), hot dogova, rebaraca, salata i deserta. Svakako je najveći izbor burgera, koje možete da naručite kao manju ili veću porciju, u skladu sa mesom i sastojcima koje preferirate, a imaju i vegetarijansku varijantu. Mi smo se odlučile za Smokey Galaxy (RSD 415 mala porcija) i Original (RSD 495 velika porcija). Smokey Galaxy čine grilovano juneće meso, čedar sir, grilovani luk, woodsmoke sos i iceberg salata. Original se sastoji od grilovanog junećeg mesa, iceberg salate, paradajza, crvenog luka, krastavca, majoneza, senfa i kečapa. Uz svaki burger dobijate kao prilog pomfrit i dve činijice sa kečapom i majonezom. Ne znam koji bih izraz mogla da upotrebim za ove burgere a da se ne ponavljam. Ovo je prava eksplozija ukusa. Sveže, ukusno meso i lepinje, pravi odabir sastojaka i porcija posle koje ne ostajete gladni, čine raj za moj hedonistički duh. Smatram da će svako da se složi sa mnom, jer po mom mišljenju, ovde će vam se svideti svaki burger, jedina je razlika što ćete odabrati sastojke po svojoj meri, ali zadovoljstvo je zagarantovano. Jednom drugom prilikom smo poručile Cheese fries (RSD 285), tj. pomfrit sa tečnim čedar sirom i mariniranim halapenjo papričicama preko. Zadovoljstvo je bilo podjednako kao i za burgere.

Cene na prvi pogled deluju malo veće, ali su skroz opravdane, tako da možete da pojedete burger za 350 RSD, ili 1000 RSD, sve u skladu sa željama i mogućnostima, a bićete siti za koji god da se odlučite.

Gosti su pretežno mlađi ljudi, proseka oko 30 godina, naročito u noćnim satima, kad se vraćaju iz izlaska, ali ni stariji nisu retkost. Usluga je odlična, pa ako imate bilo kakvu nedoumicu oko jelovnika, ili jukebox-a, ne ustručavajte se da ih pitate da vam razreše nedoumice.

This time, we're taking you to one original retaurant, the only real diner in Belgrade - Intergalactic Diner!

We all watched American movies, in which you sit down at the table where there is a jukebox, you insert a coin and enjoy your favorite songs while looking at the menu of that popular place, which consists mostly of burgers. Intergalactic Diner is just that - a dose of America in Belgrade.

You can find them in two locations in the city, at Vračar, Internacionalnih brigada Street and at the border of Zemun and Novi Beograd, within the hotel Yugoslavia. Both diners are opened 24 hours and they say that you can eat the best burgers in the Universe at their place. Very bold advertising, so, as Gastro police, we decided to visit them and judge the veracity of their claims.


When you enter, you'll feel like you've stepped into an American movie from the '50s: black and white floor tiles, sets of red and white diner booths and between them the already mentioned tables with jukeboxes on them, with the inevitable large bar and the view of the kitchen. On the table you can find a menu and napkins in a red stand, also one of the details that we saw on TV.

Since their name suggest that they operate between galaxies, their dishes have space names. That being said, you can order e.g. a Big Bang burger, Saturn onion rings, Star Chick salad or Cosmic pancakes.

The menu consists of burgers (chicken and beef), hot dogs, ribs, salads and desserts. The largest is the selection of burgers, you can choose between small and large portion, in accordance with the meat and the ingredients you prefer, but they also offer a vegetarian option. We ordered Smokey Galaxy (RSD 415 small portion) and Original (RSD 495 large portion). Smokey Galaxy consists of grilled beef, Cheddar cheese, grilled onions, woodsmoke sauce and iceberg lettuce. Original consists of grilled beef, iceberg lettuce, tomato, red onions, cucumber, mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup. As a side dish with each burger you get ketchup and mayo in two little bowls. I can't think of the expression I could use for these burgers without repeating myself. This is a real explosion of taste. Fresh, tasty meat and buns, perfect choice of ingredients and a portion after which you won't be hungry, all that forms a paradise for my hedonistic spirit. I think everyone will agree with me, because in my opinion, you'll like every burger here, the only difference is that you'll choose the ingredients you prefer, but it's guaranteed you'll be satisfied. On another occasion, we ordered Cheese fries (RSD 285), ie. French fries with  Cheddar cheese sauce and marinated jalapenos on top. The satisfaction was the same as for burgers.

At first glance, the prices seem a bit higher, but they are totally justified, so you can eat a burger from 350 RSD to 1000 RSD, in accordance with your wishes and possibilities, and your stomach will be full no matter which one you choose.

The guests are mostly younger people, about 30 years of age, especially late in the evening, when they come here after a night out, but you can encounter the older people as well. The service is excellent, so if you have any doubts about the menu or the jukebox, do not hesitate to ask them for help.

Via del gusto

U srcu Beograda, u Knez Mihailovoj ulici, smešten je već skoro 15 godina restoran pod nazivom - Via del gusto. Iako mi se nalazi u komšiluku, tek nedavno sam se odlučila ovde da svratim. I naravno da prenesem svoje utiske vama!

Baštu ovog restorana ni po čemu ne mogu da izdvojim, sasvim klasična i standardna za ovaj deo grada. Verovatno zato što me spoljašnji izgled restorana nikada nije privukao nisam ni svratila ovde tolike godine. Sve dok jednog dana kada sam se vraćala sa posla, nisam slučajno provirila u unutrašnjost restorana i ostala očarana. Kada uđete u restorana, imate utisak kao da se nalazite u nekom lokalnom restoranu u Veneciji. Iscrtane žaluzine po zidovima, motivi Italije, stolice u duhu starih italijanskih restorana neki su od detalja enterijera koji će vas jednostavno kupiti na licu mesta, ako ste romantik kao i ja.

Jelovnik je mediteranskog karaktera sa akcentom na italijansku hranu, što je i za očekivati s obzirom na naziv samog restorana. Mi smo se ovog puta odlučile da zaobiđemo njihove italijanske specijalitete, i da probamo palačinke. Ja kao ljubitelj slanih, naručila sam Palačinku sa kulenom, kačkavaljem, pavlakom i barenim jajetom (RSD 350), a Angie kao ljubitelj slatkih odlučila se za Palačinku sa eurokremom, plazmom i bananom (RSD 330). Moram da naglasim da izbor palačinki uopšte nije preterano maštovit, s obzirom na to šta sve od namirnica pruža Italija, ali dobro.

Sama usluga restorana nije me nešto preterano oduševila. Dugo smo čekale da budemo uslužene, a samo jelo smo dobile za manje od desetak minuta. I odmah mi je bilo jasno da su palačinke samo podgrejane u mikrotalasnoj. Poslužene su skoro hladne, sa vrlo oskudnim sadržajem. Jedino što je bilo ok je način na koji su dekorisane.

Gosti restorana su pretežno stranci, i skoro uvek se traži mesto više. Via del gusto iliti Ulica ukusa definitivno nije opravdala svoj naziv i moram da priznam da sam očekivala mnogo više od ovog restorana. Ukoliko vas pak put nanese ovde, definitivno zaobiđite palačinke, i okušajte sreću sa pizzama i podelite svoje utiske sa nama.

In the heart of Belgrade, in Knez Mihailova Street, located there for almost 15 years, there is the restaurant named - Via del gusto. Although it's in my neighborhood, I just recently decided to visit it. And of course, to share my impressions with you!

The garden of this restaurant doesn't stand out from the rest, it's quite classic and standard for this part of the city. I think the exterior is the main reason why it took me this long to visit this restaurant. Until one day, while returning from work, I accidentally peeked into the restaurant and it fascinated me. When you enter the restaurant, you feel like you are in some local restaurant in Venice. Blinds painted on the walls, the motives of Italy, the chairs like in old Italian restaurants, those are just some of the interior details that will simply enchant you, if you're a romantic like me.

The Mediterranean menu with an emphasis on Italian cuisine, which is expected given the name of the restaurant. This time we decided to skip their Italian specialties, and try the crepes. As a fan of savory ones, I ordered Crepe with kulen, cheese, sour cream and boiled egg (RSD 350) and Angie, as a fan of sweet one, ordered Crepe with eurocrem, Plazma ground biscuits and banana (RSD 330). I must say that the choice of crepes is not very diverse, considering all the ingredients Italy provides, but never mind.

The service of the restaurant didn't impress me. We waited for a while to be served, and we got the food in less than ten minutes. I immediately realized that the crepes were only reheated in microwave. They were almost cold, with very poor filling. The only thing that was ok was the way they were decorated.

Guests of the restaurant are mostly tourists, and it's always hard to get a table. Via del gusto aka Street of taste, definitely didn't live up to its name and I must admit that I expected a lot more from this restaurant. If the road takes you here, skip the crepes, try your luck with pizzas and share your impressions with us.

Veliki - Novi Sad

Novi Sad je, kao i Beograd, poznat po odličnim restoranima. Veliki ne samo što spada u tu kategoriju, već se po mnogo čemu i razlikuje od ostalih.

Prvo što će vam zapasti za oko je svakako ambijent, koji je sav u cigli, a ceo koncept restorana je urban. Na njihovom sajtu možete da pročitate razne zanimljivosti, pa tako možete da saznate da je najstariji kotni kamen, iz 1801. godine, ugrađen u ćošak ovog restorana. Plafon čine grede koje su početkom XIX veka donošene iz Bavarske. Kako i menadžment Velikog kaže, oni su urbani restoran koji predstavlja spoj nacionalnih kuhinja svih etničkih zajednica koje žive na ovom prostoru. Zvuči fenomenalno, zar ne?

Kad znate da im je ponuda jela kombinacija svih tih kuhinja, možete misliti kako vam se, dok čitate jelovnik, otvara apetit i podstiču sva čula.
Odlučile smo se za Karfiol u sosu od dimljenog sira (RSD 420), Pileće rolnice sa slaninom (RSD 890) i Junetinu u saftu (RSD 750). Kao prilog smo uzele Mešanu salatu sa mladim sirom (RSD 240). Karfiol i dimljeni sir su odlična kombinacija koja će vam probuditi želju za glavnim jelom. Pileće rolnice su uvijene u slaninu, punjene suvom kajsijom i šljivom, poslužene uz pirinač i povrće. Za nas ljubitelje slatkih i slanih kombinacija, ovo je super spoj. Jačinu slanine ublažava osvežavajuća nota šljive, a kajsija daje poseban šmek. Ukusno, dobar odnos sastojaka, velika porcija. Junetina u saftu se služi uz ćušpajz od tikvica, što je takođe pravi pogodak. Tamo gde su tikvice, to je uglavnom dobro, to ja često kažem u šali. Restovan krompir koji ide uz ovo jelo samo pojačava pozitivan utisak. Kao što važi i za prvo jelo, ni posle ove porcije nećete ostati gladni.

Veliki je opravdao sve ono što piše na njihovom sajtu. Pored odlične kuhinje, atmosfera u restoranu je prijatna, uz osoblje i gosti prave jednu pozitivnu atmosferu, što svakako ne bi bilo da im restoran ne pruža dobru ponudu i sasvim korektne cene. Kad budem nekoga vodila na dobar i ukusan obrok u Novi Sad, ovaj restoran će sigurno biti moj izbor.

Like Belgrade, Novi Sad is known for its excellent restaurants. Not only the restaurant Veliki falls into this category, it also stands out from the others.

The first thing that will catch your eye is certainly the ambiance, an urban concept of the restaurant with brick walls. You can read lots of interesting fact on their website , like the one that says that the oldest corner stone, from 1801, still remains in this restaurant. The ceiling is made of beams that were brought from Bavaria at the beginning of the nineteenth century. As the management of Veliki says, they are an urban restaurant that represents a fusion of national cuisines of all ethnic communities living in this region. Sounds great, right?

Once you realize that they offer combinations of all these cuisines dishes , you can imagine how just reading the menu whets one's appetite.

We ordered Cauliflower with smoked cheese sauce (RSD 420), Chicken rolls wrapped in bacon (RSD 890) and Beef in gravy (RSD 750). As a side dish, we ordered Mixed salad with fresh cheese (RSD 240). Cauliflower and smoked cheese are a great combination that will make you want the main course even more. Chicken rolls are wrapped in bacon, stuffed with dried apricot and prunes, served with rice and vegetables. For us who enjoy in sweet and savory combinations, this is a great one. The strong flavor of bacon is weakened by the refreshing prune, while the apricot gives an unique taste. Delicious, good ratio of ingredients, big portion. Beef in gravy is served with zucchini stew, which is also an ideal choice. It has to be good if it comes with zucchini, I often joke. The roasted potatoes that are served with this dish only make my impression more positive . Like for the first dish, you won't be hungry after this dish as well.

Veliki has justified everything that is written on their website. In addition to the excellent cuisine, the atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant, the staff and the guests create a positive atmosphere, which  certainly wouldn't be happening if the restaurant didn't have a good offer and quite fair prices. If I wanted to take someone out for a good and delicious meal in Novi Sad, this restaurant would definitely be my choice.
